AWC Celebrates New Leadership at Maryam Babangida Women Centre
The Africa Women Conference (AWC) has congratulated the newly appointed leadership of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, describing the appointments as a strong step toward strengthening women-focused governance and institutional growth in Nigeria.
The organization commended Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi for her appointment as Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, and also felicitated Joan Jummai Idonije as Chairman of the Governing Council.
AWC said the appointments reflect competence, dedication, and long-standing commitment to women empowerment, inclusive leadership, and national development.
It also praised the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for promoting gender inclusion through strategic leadership appointments.
The Conference expressed confidence that the new leadership will strengthen institutional capacity and expand programmes that benefit women, children, and vulnerable groups across the country.
