2027: NDC Reduces Nomination Fees for Women, Youths, PWDs
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a reduction in nomination and expression of interest fees for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu on Friday, the party said women aspirants will pay 50 percent of the prescribed fees for both expression of interest and nomination forms.
Youths aged 18 to 35 will also pay 50 percent, while PWDs will pay 25 percent of the official cost.
The party said the decision is aimed at increasing participation in the political process and removing financial barriers that limit access to elective positions.
It added that the policy is part of efforts to promote inclusiveness and ensure wider representation of marginalized groups in governance.
Enekweizu said economic constraints, disability, age, and gender should not prevent citizens from contesting elective offices.
The statement also noted that women remain underrepresented in politics due to cultural and structural challenges, adding that corrective measures are necessary to improve participation.
According to the party, presidential, governorship, and National Assembly nomination forms will be obtained at its national secretariat in Abuja, while State House of Assembly forms will be available at state offices nationwide.
The announcement comes amid ongoing calls for increased youth participation, gender inclusion, and improved accessibility in Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of 2027.
