Ex-IGP Adamu Rejects Wadada’s Emergence as Nasarawa APC Governorship Candidate

Former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar-Adamu, has rejected the declaration of Ahmed Aliyu-Wadada as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election in Nasarawa State.
Adamu’s rejection followed the announcement of Wadada as winner of the APC governorship primary by Professor Theodore Maiyaki-led primary election committee.
Addressing journalists in Lafia, the former police chief alleged that the exercise lacked credibility and failed to reflect the wishes of the majority of APC stakeholders in the state.
He claimed that in several areas where elections allegedly did not take place, result sheets were removed and manipulated by some Nasarawa State government officials in collaboration with certain local government chairmen.
According to him, the process was heavily compromised and rigged against genuine party members.
Adamu urged the national leadership of the APC to investigate and address the alleged irregularities and injustices that characterised the primary election process.
He maintained that his ambition to “rescue and reposition” Nasarawa State remains intact, expressing confidence that he would still contest and win the 2027 governorship election, either on the APC platform or another political party if justice is not served.
“Should justice prevail, we shall continue our journey within the APC. However, if justice is denied, we shall communicate our next line of action and the political platform under which we shall contest the 2027 governorship race,” he said.
The former IGP further insisted that in locations where voting genuinely occurred and ballots were counted transparently, he emerged victorious.
He, however, called on his supporters to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding while the matter is being addressed.
“We shall remain united, hopeful and committed to the struggle for fairness and a better Nasarawa State,” Abubakar-Adamu stated.
