Ogun Reps Member Alleges Threats After APC Primary Violence Row
A member of the House of Representatives representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, has raised concern over alleged threats to her life following the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Sagamu Local Government Area.
She said the threat was contained in a viral video in which some youths allegedly warned her to leave the town or risk harm, a development she described as disturbing and unacceptable in a democratic society.
Elegbeji called on security agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), as well as party leaders in the state, to urgently intervene and prevent any escalation.
She said she has already reported the matter to the relevant authorities.
“This video is a threat against me. Asking me to leave the town or else, I’m not safe. I have informed the police and DSS in my area about the situation,” she said.
The lawmaker condemned any form of political intimidation or violence, stressing that elections and party processes must be based on issues and conducted peacefully.
She said political ambition should not come at the expense of human lives or the peace of the constituency.
Elegbeji described herself as a peace-loving politician committed to unity, fairness and responsible representation.
She also appealed for calm among her supporters and urged stakeholders to act swiftly to prevent further tension, noting that the people of Remo are known for political maturity and peaceful coexistence.
The lawmaker said she remains focused on her legislative duties and people-centred representation since assuming office on October 25, 2025, following her victory in the August 2025 bye-election.
She added that she will continue to uphold the legacy of the late Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga through inclusive development for her constituency.
