Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has appointed Professor Demo Joab Usman Kalla as the Vice Chancellor of the newly established Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action in Gembu.
Kalla brings to the new university a strong background in animal science, dairy research and livestock development.
Before his appointment, he headed the TETFund Centre of Excellence on Dairy Research and Development at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

The Taraba State Government, in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, on Monday, described Kalla as a prolific scholar with several research publications in reputable Nigerian and international journals.
His research and professional contributions to Animal Science, the statement added, have earned him recognition in academic and professional circles.
Governor Kefas said he expects the new Vice Chancellor to use his experience in research, university administration and leadership to give the institution a strong foundation.
The governor specifically charged Kalla to work with relevant stakeholders to build the university into a centre of excellence in tropical agriculture, science, technology and climate action.
He also wished the professor a successful tenure and urged him to focus on education, research, innovation and sustainable development in Taraba State and beyond.
