Northern Senators Forum Welcomes New Gumel Emir
The Northern Senators Forum has congratulated Lawan Ahmed Mohammed, PhD, on his emergence as the 17th Emir of Gumel Emirate in Jigawa State.
The forum also congratulated the Jigawa State Government and people of the state on the appointment of the new emir.
In a statement on Saturday, Chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua commiserated with the people of Gumel over the death of the former emir, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani II, CON.
The late emir spent 45 years on the throne and was described by the forum as a monarch who served his people with dedication and promoted peace.
The forum commended the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, for his support and participation in the delegation’s visit to Gumel.
It also praised Senator Babangida Hussaini, Walin Kazaure, for hosting and facilitating the delegation’s visit on Friday.
The forum expressed confidence in the new emir, citing his academic qualifications and professional experience.
It said his background in mathematics, computing, engineering and cybersecurity would help him promote education, youth development and innovation in Gumel Emirate.
The senators urged the people of Gumel to support the new monarch and work with him to promote peace, unity and development.
The forum also prayed for wisdom, good health and divine guidance for the new emir as he begins his reign.
