TETFund Boss Meets Army Chief Over Strategic National Development Collaboration

The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Sonny Echono, has continued his high-level engagements with key national defence and security stakeholders with a strategic visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu.
The visit, which took place as part of ongoing consultations with security and defence institutions, focused on strengthening collaboration between the education sector and national security architecture in advancing Nigeria’s development goals.
Echono, during the meeting, reiterated TETFund’s commitment to supporting initiatives capable of enhancing research, innovation, human capital development and institutional capacity across the country.
The engagement also underscored the growing recognition of education, technology and research as critical components in addressing emerging national security challenges and promoting sustainable development.
The TETFund Executive Secretary noted that stronger partnerships between tertiary institutions and security agencies would help drive innovation, policy research and specialised manpower development needed to support national stability and progress.
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff commended TETFund’s contributions to educational advancement and infrastructural development in Nigerian tertiary institutions, describing education as a vital tool for nation-building and strategic growth.
The meeting forms part of broader efforts by TETFund leadership to deepen institutional partnerships and foster cross-sector collaboration in support of national transformation.
