Senate Army Committee Pays Tribute to Late Major General Rabe Abubakar
The Senate Committee on Army has mourned the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, describing his passing as a painful loss to the nation and the military establishment.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Chairman of the Committee, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, expressed sadness over the demise of the retired general, who was reportedly abducted alongside his wife on the Katsina–Matazu road on May 30, 2026.
The Committee praised the late officer for his distinguished service to Nigeria, noting that he dedicated much of his life to the defence of the country and continued to contribute to national security discussions after retirement.

It described Major General Abubakar as a committed professional whose contributions to military communication and national service earned him respect within and beyond the armed forces.
The lawmakers extended their condolences to his family, the Nigerian Army, and the people of Batsari Local Government Area in Katsina State, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and comfort for those he left behind.
The Committee also reiterated its resolve to work closely with security agencies and relevant authorities to strengthen efforts aimed at addressing insecurity and safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians.
