Police Arrest 45-Year-Old Man Over Attempted Murder, Robbery In Kebbi
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Bello Abubakar, over the alleged attempted murder and robbery of a commercial motorcycle rider in Shanga Local Government Area.
The command said the incident occurred on August 23, 2026, when 22-year-old Bello Umar, a commercial motorcycle rider, was found with a serious head injury at Tungar Dariya Bush near Makera Village.
Police said the victim was rushed to Koko General Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Abubakar allegedly hired the victim’s motorcycle from Koko Town to Tungar Dariya Bush, where he attacked him with a hoe and covered him with leaves, believing he was dead.
He allegedly fled with the motorcycle to Yauri Town.
Police said sustained investigation led operatives to the stolen motorcycle, which was recovered and traced to the suspect, leading to his arrest.
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, condemned the alleged attack and warned criminals targeting commercial motorcycle operators and other residents that the command would arrest and prosecute them.
He also commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism.
