Northern Senators Forum Mourns Senator Solomon Ewuga

The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has expressed deep grief over the death of Senator Solomon Sunday Akku Ewuga, describing him as a statesman whose life shaped both politics and community development in Nigeria.

Senator Ewuga passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of 70. Until his death, he was widely regarded as one of the leading voices in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

A founding father of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a key player in the formation of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Ewuga left a strong imprint on party politics in the Fourth Republic. His service as Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and later as Senator for Nasarawa North reflected his deep commitment to public service and national unity.

Beyond politics, Ewuga was also an intellectual and professional force. A lawyer and journalist by training, he was a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, and the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON). Through his company, ADPURE Nigeria Limited, he helped pioneer advertising practice in Northern Nigeria.

The late senator was also remembered for his grassroots impact—from scholarship schemes to infrastructure projects that uplifted the lives of the Eggon people of Nasarawa State.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the NSF said:

> “We mourn the loss of a true patriot and pray that his soul finds eternal rest. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations.”
