NDC Sets N60m Price Tag for 2027 Presidential Ticket, Fixes May 29 Primary

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has fixed N60 million as the cost of its presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party also announcing May 29, 2026, for its presidential primary election.
In a statement jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu the party unveiled the timetable and guidelines for the exercise on Tuesday, stating that the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for all elective positions will commence on May 13 and close on May 18.
According to the statement aspirants seeking the NDC presidential ticket are expected to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form.
Screening of presidential aspirants and other contenders is expected to hold between May 19 and 21, while appeals arising from the exercise will be entertained on May 25 and 26.
The party disclosed that its presidential primary election would take place in Abuja on May 29 using the “open secret ballot” system, which it said is aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness, and credibility in the selection of its flag bearer.
The NDC also announced fee concessions for special categories of aspirants, noting that female contestants would pay 50 per cent of the approved fees, while persons living with disabilities (PWDs) would pay 25 per cent across all categories.
The party assured members of a transparent and democratic process capable of producing credible candidates for the 2027 elections.
