The Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) has arrested a 24-year-old man, Muhammad Babuga, over alleged involvement in kidnapping activities around the boundary between Kogi and Enugu states.
The suspect was arrested on October 8, 2026, at about 7pm in Igabada, a border community between the two states, following what the service described as credible intelligence.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the KSVS Public Relations Officer, Idris S. Idris, the suspect allegedly confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang.
The statement added that a kidnapping victim, who was released after the gang allegedly collected ransom, identified Babuga as one of those involved in the crime.
The Comptroller-General of the KSVS, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Anataku, commended the operatives of the Igalamela Command for the arrest, urging them to sustain their efforts to tackle criminal activities.
Anataku also appreciated Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support for the service, saying the assistance had boosted personnel morale and improved service delivery.
He urged residents to provide security agencies with timely and actionable information to help prevent and combat kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The service said photographs of the suspect were attached to the statement.
