Imasuen Hosts Girl Guides Delegation, Advocates Stronger Youth Mentorship
Senator Neda Imasuen has reaffirmed the importance of youth mentorship, leadership development and girl-child empowerment while hosting a delegation from the Nigerian Girl Guides Association led by the FCT Commissioner, Taiwo Comfort Olabisi.
The courtesy visit to the senator’s office created an avenue for discussions on youth development, mentorship and initiatives aimed at empowering young girls across the country.
During the engagement, Senator Imasuen reflected on his personal experience as a member of the Boys’ Scouts, noting that the discipline, leadership values and life skills acquired through the movement have continued to shape his personal and public life.
He stressed the need for structured mentorship programmes capable of nurturing responsible, confident and service-driven future leaders.
The senator also highlighted the “Comprehending Gen Z + Alpha Programme,” an initiative spearheaded by his office to address the wellbeing, orientation and development of children and young people, particularly the girl child.
According to him, the programme was introduced in response to the changing realities confronting younger generations and the growing need to better understand, guide and support them in a rapidly evolving society.
Imasuen disclosed that the initiative has successfully run for the past two years, focusing on education, advocacy, mentorship and value-based engagement for children and teenagers.
He reiterated his commitment to policies and programmes that invest in young people, describing youth empowerment as critical to sustainable national development.
Speaking earlier, Mrs. Olabisi appreciated the senator for the warm reception and expressed the association’s readiness to strengthen partnerships that would create more opportunities for girls and young women within the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
