A socio-political group, Kuli Support Group, has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of Kogi State House of Assembly member, , citing his grassroots engagement and empowerment initiatives as reasons for continuity.
The group said Idowu’s return to the Assembly would allow him to consolidate what it described as his people-oriented programmes and strengthen the link between Yagba West Constituency 1 and government.
In a statement titled, “A Vision for a Better Tomorrow for Yagba West Constituency,” the group’s Coordinator, Segun Adebayo, said the lawmaker’s leadership had focused on youth empowerment, community development and inclusive representation.
Adebayo particularly highlighted an empowerment programme under which the group said 210 constituents across Yagba West Local Government Area had received financial support running into millions of naira.
According to him, beneficiaries were also placed on monthly stipends as part of efforts to cushion economic hardship, support small businesses and improve household livelihoods.
He said the programme covered wards across the local government area and reflected what the group described as Idowu’s commitment to maintaining direct contact with constituents.
The coordinator said the lawmaker’s approach to representation was built around “people, presence and participation,” rather than rhetoric.
He argued that effective legislative representation required someone who understood the concerns of constituents and could effectively present them before relevant authorities.
“For the people of Yagba West Constituency 1, Kuli offers the experience and trusted grassroots connection needed to build a strong link between the community and government from the very beginning,” the statement said.
The group maintained that Idowu’s record demonstrated that public office could be used to deliver tangible benefits to constituents, describing his empowerment and community initiatives as evidence of purposeful representation.
It therefore urged residents of the constituency to support his bid to return to the Kogi State House of Assembly, arguing that continuity would enable him to deepen his existing programmes.
“A good term deserves another. Let continuity speak. Let performance speak. Let us support his ambition,” the group said.
