Empowering Young Voices: Musawa Calls for Participation in National Writing Competition
The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, has encouraged young Nigerian writers to take part in the “Voices of Our Heritage” writing competition, an online national project that fosters creativity and cultural appreciation.
Open to Nigerian pupils and students aged 10-18, the competition aims to discover and nurture emerging literary talents.
Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Nneka Ikem Anibeze, quoted the ministerto have indicated that the initiative will empower participants to create, publish, and even earn from their digital books, thus promoting entrepreneurship and job opportunities.
“This competition is about preserving our cultural heritage while shaping the future of our nation,” she said.
Organized as part of the 2024-25 National Young Authors Fair (NYAF), the competition invites entries from primary, secondary, and university students. Registration is open until February 20, 2025.
The submission period for writing is between February 20th and March 20th, 2025, with winners to be announced on April 10th, 2025. Top 10 winners will receive ₦250,000 each, alongside book publication, national showcase, and distribution.
