APC in Panic mode over NDC’s exploits, court ruling targets opposition -Cleopas

Declares, Tinubu will not contest 2027 election unopposed

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was rattled by its rapid emergence as a major opposition platform, describing the Federal High Court judgment setting aside its registration order as part of a wider effort to weaken opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, the party’s national chairman Senator moses Cleopas insisted that the NDC remained a legally registered political party and had instructed its lawyers to challenge the judgment at the Court of Appeal.
He argued that the ruling, delivered by Justice Isa Dashen of the Federal High Court in Lokoja, neither deregistered the party nor prevented it from participating in the forthcoming elections, adding that its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other candidates would remain on the ballot.
The chairman further suggested that the party’s growing popularity had unsettled the political establishment, insisting that President Bola Tinubu would not face an opposition-free contest in 2027.
