TMV Says Counterterrorism Efforts Yield Significant Results Since 2023

The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has highlighted what it described as significant security gains recorded under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that more than 13,000 terrorists have been killed and terrorism-related deaths have declined by 81 percent since 2023.

In a statement issued on Friday and jointly signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group said the figures reflect the impact of increased government investment in military operations, intelligence gathering and inter-agency security coordination.

According to the organisation, security forces have also arrested more than 17,000 suspected terrorists and violent criminals during the period under review, while sustained military offensives have weakened insurgent networks across several parts of the country.

The group attributed the reported gains to improved funding of security agencies, acquisition of military hardware, enhanced intelligence capabilities and efforts aimed at boosting troop morale.

TMV further noted that Nigeria has strengthened military cooperation with international partners, including the United States and several European countries, through training programmes and joint security engagements designed to improve counterterrorism operations.

The organisation also drew attention to the Federal Government’s non-kinetic approach to addressing insurgency, citing the activities of Operation Safe Corridor. It claimed that more than 124,000 former fighters and their dependants have surrendered and undergone rehabilitation and reintegration processes since 2023.

The group maintained that the programme offers an alternative pathway for individuals willing to renounce violence, while security agencies continue operations against those who remain active in terrorist and criminal networks.

TMV also referenced recent operations conducted under Operation Whirl Stroke, stating that troops rescued 337 kidnap victims and recovered 4,105 rustled cattle in parts of Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states.

According to the group, the combination of military action, intelligence-led operations and rehabilitation initiatives is contributing to a gradual improvement in Nigeria’s security environment.

While acknowledging that security challenges remain in some regions, TMV argued that the reported figures indicate measurable progress in ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry and other forms of violent crime across the country.

The Presidency has consistently maintained that investments in military equipment, intelligence infrastructure and collaboration among security agencies remain central to its strategy for improving national security and safeguarding lives and property.
