Echocho moves to fasttrack completion of abandoned Kogi East road project
The Senator representing Kogi East Isah Jibrin Echocho has taken steps to ensure that abandoned Lokoja/Shitanku/Dekina/Anyigba road project is speedily completed, to address the plight of commuters and residents.
Senator Echocho had invited Tech Engineering Limited, the company handling the contract, to his office for more insights on the project’s status following a petition submitted to the National Assembly
During the meeting, the senator had emphasized the importance of the road infrastructure development for Kogi State and its people.
He expressed concern over the delay in completing the project, despite its flag-off last year, as he enquired to know the cause of the delay.
Senator Echocho urged Tech Engineering Limited to resume work on the project within the next two weeks, warning of further action if the deadline is not met.
The Managing Director of Tech Engineering Limited, Mr. Ding on his part attributed the delay to the abduction of their top management staff and further threats to their project engineers.
He apologized for the inconvenience caused by the delay and committed to resuming work on the project.
Explaining further, he said the company has also initiated steps to address the issue of insecurity, including requesting security assistance from the Nigerian Military.
