Hundreds of members of the All¹q Progressives Congress (APC) from Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State have thrown their weight behind former council chairman, Hon. Shehu Udi, urging him to contest any elective position of his choice in the 2027 general elections.
The supporters, mobilised under the banner of Ringim Move Fast (RMF), converged on Udi’s residence, declaring their “unwavering loyalty” and readiness to back his political ambitions. The gathering brought together party faithful from all 10 political wards of the local government.
At a stakeholders’ meeting, RMF leaders highlighted Udi’s tenure as chairman as “impactful and people-oriented,” citing achievements in education, healthcare, security, agriculture, and women and youth empowerment.
“The council witnessed real grassroots development under his leadership,” one RMF official said. “He strengthened local security, supported farmers, and created economic opportunities for youths and women. His administration was inclusive and transformative.”
The group urged Udi to begin consultations in preparation for 2027, pledging to mobilise support across Ringim and beyond, assuring him of total backing at all levels.
Responding, Udi expressed gratitude for the endorsement, describing it as “a call to service.” He emphasised that any decision he takes would prioritise the collective interest and development of Ringim, Jigawa State, and Nigeria.
“I have listened to your call. Go back, consult, and decide the position you want me to contest. Insha Allah, I will abide by your decision,” he told supporters.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to unity, progress, and sustainable development in Ringim, insisting that the welfare of the people remains his top priority.
Political analysts say Udi’s growing grassroots support in Ringim signals the early shaping of local alliances ahead of 2027, positioning him as a formidable player in Jigawa State politics.
