Akpabio Approves Employment for Sons of Late Police Aide
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has approved automatic employment for the two sons of his police rider, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hussani Ibrahim, who died in a road accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.
Akpabio announced the decision on Tuesday during plenary while informing senators of the death of the officer, who served as his official rider. The late DSP Ibrahim has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
In his tribute, the Senate President described the deceased as a disciplined and dedicated officer who was committed to duty and service.
“Your late father understood the value of work and service. He devoted himself to it,” Akpabio said, addressing the family. “His death is not in vain. It testifies to his legacy of service.”
Akpabio also commiserated with the family of the deceased, the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force, describing Ibrahim as courageous and fearless. He prayed for the repose of his soul and for strength for those he left behind.
The offer of automatic employment for the officer’s sons was announced as part of the Senate President’s support for the bereaved family.
In a related development, the Senate also paid tribute to Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, a long-serving driver to the senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Jibrin Isah Echocho, who recently died after 25 years of service.
The Senate observed a minute’s silence in honour of both deceased and offered prayers for the repose of their souls.
