GFCA Appoints Nigerian Diplomat to Foster Africa–U.S. City Partnerships
Timi Frank"s appointment as Senior Advisor is to Strengthen Africa–U.S. City Ties
The Global Friendship City Association (GFCA), a U.S.-based international cooperation network, has appointed Nigerian politician and diplomat Ambassador Timi Frank as Senior Advisor, in a move aimed at deepening Africa–U.S. collaboration through city partnerships, youth initiatives, and cultural exchange.
The appointment, announced on November 25 in San Francisco, underscores GFCA’s efforts to connect African cities with U.S. communities across governance, culture, innovation, and public service.
GFCA Executive Director Jonathan Ginsberg hailed Frank as a valuable addition to the organisation’s leadership.
“Ambassador Timi Frank’s political and diplomatic experience across Africa makes him an invaluable contributor to our mission,” Ginsberg said. “His insight will strengthen Africa–USA friendship city partnerships and empower youth through meaningful cross-cultural engagement.”
Frank, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC), also serves as ULMWP Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East. He has long been involved in governance advocacy, civic mobilisation, and international diplomacy.
In his new role, Frank will guide GFCA’s global partnership strategy, focusing on building lasting institutional links between African and American cities. He will also spearhead initiatives in education, cultural exchange, innovation, leadership development, and community collaboration.
Reacting to the appointment, Frank said he was honoured to serve at a time when Africa–U.S. cooperation increasingly depends on people-to-people diplomacy.
“Building sustainable bridges between African cities and U.S. communities is both a responsibility and a privilege,” he said.
Based in California’s Bay Area, GFCA promotes global cooperation by connecting cities, institutions, and individuals through dialogue, exchange, and collaborative development. With Frank on board, the organisation says it aims to accelerate engagement across Africa and expand its continental footprint.
