Kogi Cashew Shines as World’s Best

***Nigeria, Vietnam Seal Historic Pact to Boost Cashew Production and Technology Exchange

Kogi cashew has earned global recognition as the best and most nutritious cashew in the world, following a landmark partnership between Nigeria and Vietnam to strengthen cashew production, processing, and technology transfer.
The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) and the Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 14th VINACAS Golden Cashew Rendezvous 2025, held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from October 26 to 28.
The three-day global event, marking VINACAS’ 35th anniversary, drew key players in the international cashew value chain — but Nigeria’s Kogi cashew stole the spotlight for its outstanding quality, unique flavor, and high nutritional value.
Speaking at the signing, Dr. Ojo Joseph Ajanaku, National President of NCAN, said the recognition of Kogi cashew at the Hanoi conference reaffirmed Nigeria’s rising status in the global cashew industry.
“Kogi cashew has been confirmed as the most nutritious and flavorful in the world,” Ajanaku said. “It’s the pride of Nigeria — our gold in the agricultural sector. This partnership will help us harness that advantage through research, innovation, and technology.”
He explained that the MoU would open doors for technology transfer, modern processing, and product diversification — including the production of cashew-based beverages and by-products.
“We’re working with Vietnam to start juicing Kogi cashew,” Ajanaku revealed. “Their advanced machinery and expertise will help us expand our processing capacity, create jobs, and boost exports.”
The MoU, signed by Mr. Pham Van Cong, President of VINACAS, and Dr. Ajanaku, will promote bilateral trade, investment, and sustainable farming practices across both nations.
Pham said Vietnam, with over 500 member companies, would share its decades of industrial experience with Nigeria to strengthen local capacity and enhance value addition.
“Vietnam is proud to partner with Nigeria — a growing cashew powerhouse,” Pham stated. “Together, we’ll shape the future of global cashew trade.”
Ajanaku noted that Nigeria exported $20 million worth of cashew to Vietnam in 2025, and projected that with better processing and market access, export earnings could exceed $500 million annually.
He emphasized that the partnership aligns with Nigeria’s broader push to grow its non-oil economy, especially through agriculture and value-added exports.
A joint implementation committee will be set up to track progress and ensure effective delivery of the MoU’s objectives.
Kogi State, known for its vast cashew plantations, continues to play a leading role in Nigeria’s agricultural landscape. With this recognition, experts say the state is set to become a global hub for premium cashew products.
“Cashew is Nigeria’s next success story — and Kogi is leading the way,” Ajanaku declared.
