One person has been killed and another injured following a clash involving youths in a Fulani settlement in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The incident occurred at about 11:30pm on Wednesday, September 23, after residents reportedly heard shouting from the centre of the settlement and rushed to the scene.
Two youths were found seriously injured and taken to the Primary Health Centre, Aujara, for treatment.
One of the victims, 20-year-old Umar Abdullahi, later died while receiving medical attention, while the second victim, identified as 19-year-old Sule Adamu, was said to be responding to treatment.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said its Aujara office received a distress call from a resident and immediately deployed personnel to the community.
Meanwhile, police have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident and commenced investigation.
The authorities have yet to establish what triggered the confrontation or provide details of how the clash started.
Investigators are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the roles played by those arrested.
