The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has honoured Muhuyi Magaji as an Ambassador of the War Against Drug Abuse, WADA.
Magaji is Chairman of the Kano State Multi Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
A statement issued by Lamara Garba, Member of Media and Publicity Committee, agency indicated that the recognition was conferred on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Explaining further, the statement said it was presented during a courtesy visit by the NDLEA Zone 5 Commander, ACGN Mohamed Ajiya, and members of his management team.
NDLEA Zone 5 covers Kano and Jigawa states.
The agency said the honour recognised Magaji’s commitment to the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
It also cited his efforts in inter-agency collaboration, public awareness and community mobilisation.
The NDLEA said the WADA Ambassador recognition was more than an honour.
It described it as a renewed call for greater advocacy and action against drug abuse.
Reacting, Magaji thanked the NDLEA for the recognition.
He described it as both an honour and a responsibility to intensify the campaign.
Magaji said no single agency could win the drug war alone.
He called for a united effort involving government agencies, families, communities, schools, religious and traditional leaders, civil society and the media.
He said prevention must begin at home, in schools and within communities.
He added that security agencies must continue disrupting drug trafficking networks.
“The fight against drug abuse is not the responsibility of law enforcement agencies alone. It is a collective responsibility.”
Magaji also called for greater emphasis on prevention and early intervention.
He said sustained sensitisation and community-based initiatives were needed to keep young people away from drugs.
He said stronger cooperation among agencies would improve intelligence sharing and coordinated interventions.
Magaji pledged that the Task Force would deepen its partnership with the NDLEA and other stakeholders.
He said protecting young people from drug abuse was crucial to building a safe and productive Kano State.
Magaji said the WADA recognition was not a destination.
Rather, he described it as a renewed mandate to mobilise more people and institutions for a drug-free Kano State.
