Prominent Nigerian Business Icon, Aminu Dantata, Passes On at 94

Nigeria has lost one of its most revered business icons, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in the early hours of Friday in the United Arab Emirates at the age of 94.
A family source confirmed that the elder statesman died around 3 a.m. Nigerian time at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, following a brief illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Born on May 19, 1931, in Kano, Alhaji Dantata was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business community, renowned for his role in shaping the country’s private sector over several decades. He was a trailblazing industrialist, philanthropist, and a respected elder whose legacy spans commerce, community service, and generational impact.
He is survived by seven children, including Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata, and many grandchildren.
His death marks the end of an era in Nigeria’s economic and philanthropic history.
