POMR Condemns Enugu Violence, Demands Impartial Probe Into Alleged Killings

Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has condemned reported cases of political intimidation and violence in Enugu State and called for an impartial investigation into alleged politically motivated killings, with prosecution for anyone found responsible.
In a statement on Sunday by its spokesman, Idris Zekeri Jnr, the group said violence and intimidation must never replace democratic competition. It challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win support on its record in office. “If the APC has accomplishments to present, it should disclose them to Nigerians. If it enjoys the people’s confidence, it should face them at the ballot box,” the statement said.
POMR called the reports from Enugu unacceptable and urged security agencies to examine all credible allegations without political interference. It demanded that investigators establish who ordered, financed, enabled or carried out the attacks, and that those found culpable be prosecuted under the law.
The group said public office must not shield anyone from justice, and that political affiliation must not decide who is protected and who is held to account. “No governor is above the law, no political party owns the state, and no political aspiration can justify the loss of even one Nigerian life,” it said.
POMR also urged electoral and law enforcement authorities to take steps to prevent political violence, protect opposition candidates and supporters, and guarantee citizens’ freedom to take part in the democratic process without fear. It asked Nigerians to resist intimidation through lawful and peaceful means and not to surrender their constitutional rights.
“Our message is clear: account for your record, answer for your conduct, and face the Nigerian people, not the barrel of a gun,” the statement added.
POMR said Nigeria deserves leaders who earn trust through results, respect human life and uphold the rule of law.
