Peter Obi: 2027 Election Must Be About Results, Not Promises
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC) Peter Obi, has called for a results-driven approach to leadership ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Obi said Nigerians should use the election to examine the records, ideas and plans of candidates seeking their votes.
He made the call in a statement on Friday marking the start of campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

The former governor said he was seeking the presidency with the conviction that “Nigeria can work, and Nigeria must work.”
He identified poverty, insecurity, unemployment, poor infrastructure, unreliable electricity and the high cost of doing business as major challenges facing the country.
Obi said these problems were affecting families, farmers, workers, students and businesses across the country.
Obi: Leadership Must Deliver Results
The presidential candidate said Nigeria had the resources, talent and human capacity to overcome its challenges, but needed leadership capable of turning those resources into economic opportunities and improved living conditions.
“Public office is not a reward; it is a responsibility to the people,” he said.
Obi cited his experience as governor of Anambra State, saying his administration focused on education, healthcare, infrastructure, fiscal discipline and institutional development.
He acknowledged that his administration was not perfect and urged Nigerians to assess its record based on evidence.
The former governor also highlighted the experience of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as governor of Kano State, particularly his focus on education, skills development, scholarships and infrastructure.
According to Obi, their different experiences point to the need for greater investment in human capital and responsible management of public funds.
He said the 2027 election should focus on issues that directly affect Nigerians, including food prices, healthcare, education, employment, business growth and the safety of farmers.
Obi urged voters to carefully examine the records and programmes of all candidates before making their choices in the 2027 elections.
