Ogodu Leaders Press Bello, Ododo to Uphold Equity in Omala
A coalition of associations under the umbrella of OMALA Front Line has appealed to the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ododo Usman and his predecessor Yahahya Bello to ensure equity and fairness in the upcoming Omala Local Government council elections.
The groups argued that Ogodu District, having never held the council chairmanship since the advent of democracy, deserves fair representation.
Speaking at a meeting held at Safara Beach Hotel in Lokoja on Tuesday, spokesperson Hon. Aliyu Suleiman emphasized that Ogodu District is one of the largest and most populous zones in the council, contributing significantly to election outcomes. “If elections are truly about numbers and fairness, Ogodu District must produce the next council chairman,” Suleiman said.
He warned that continued marginalization of Ogodu could provoke voters to assert their rights decisively in the 2027 elections. Suleiman praised APC leadership under Alhaji Yahaya Bello and Governor Ododo, asserting that the party does not tolerate marginalization in the name of minority status.
All twenty-five groups representing Ogodu District unanimously urged the governor to take immediate and decisive action to correct this historical imbalance, calling on him to uphold the principles of equity and justice.
“Our demand is straightforward,” Suleiman concluded. “Ogodu District has the population, the votes, and the right to lead. Fairness and democracy demand nothing less.”
