Obi Takes 2027 Campaign Online, Puts Vote Protection Before Rallies

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, is taking his 2027 mobilisation beyond conventional rallies with a global digital town hall focused on protecting votes and gathering ideas from Nigerians.
The virtual engagement, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, will bring together Nigerians at home and in the diaspora as Obi seeks their input on the movement’s next phase.
Obi said questions about how votes would be protected and how his movement would approach the 2027 election had repeatedly emerged during his recent engagements.

“These are fair questions, and you deserve direct answers,” he said.
But rather than make the meeting another one-way campaign address, Obi said he wanted Nigerians to help shape the conversation.
“I want to hear your concerns, your insights and your strategies,” he said.
The development marks another emphasis on grassroots participation and election-day preparedness in Obi’s 2027 mobilisation.

The NDC candidate has previously urged supporters to defend their votes from the polling unit through the final declaration of results.
An ally of Obi, Aisha Yesufu, had also said the movement was working towards a nationwide network of election agents to monitor the process from polling units through the various collation stages.
The Sunday town hall therefore provides an opportunity for Obi to engage directly with supporters on the practical concerns surrounding voter participation and electoral monitoring.
The session, tagged “A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall,” will begin at 7pm West Africa Time.
Participation is open to Nigerians in the country and the diaspora, with registration required ahead of the event.
Obi said the movement would continue to draw on the contributions of its supporters as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.
“This movement has always been built by you, and your ideas will shape what we do next,” he said.
He concluded with the movement’s slogan: “A New Nigeria is POSSIBLE.”
