Niger Speaker Sarkindaji Hails North-Central Outstanding Speaker Award
***Says Honour Demands Greater Service
Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, has described his nomination as the Most Outstanding State Assembly Speaker in the North-Central geopolitical zone as both a recognition of past efforts and a challenge to deliver even greater service to the people.
Sarkindaji was selected for the prestigious honour by Hallowmace Africa as part of its National Legislative Awards 2026, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to legislative development in the region.
Reacting to the award, the Speaker said the recognition was a reflection of the collective commitment of members of the 10th Niger State House of Assembly, legislative staff and stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to promote peace, stability and effective lawmaking in the state.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition. It is not only a personal achievement but a call to greater service and dedication to the people we represent,” he said.
According to a nomination letter issued by Hallowmace Africa, Sarkindaji distinguished himself through his effective management of legislative proceedings, cordial relationship with fellow lawmakers and the executive arm of government, as well as his developmental contributions to his constituency.
The organisation noted that after a thorough assessment of legislative performance across the North-Central zone, Sarkindaji emerged as the most outstanding Speaker based on his leadership style, commitment to democratic governance and efforts towards promoting legislative harmony.
The award organisers further highlighted his record of public service, which includes serving as a two-time local government chairman and former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Niger State, describing him as a leader who has demonstrated consistency, experience and commitment to public welfare.
Sarkindaji is expected to receive the award alongside other distinguished legislative leaders from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones during the Hallowmace Africa National Legislative Awards ceremony scheduled to hold on July 9, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.
In a statement issued in Minna by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Shamsudeen Lawal Binari, the Speaker expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to members of the Assembly for their unwavering support, which he said has contributed significantly to the peaceful atmosphere and stability currently enjoyed in the legislature.
He noted that the harmonious working relationship among lawmakers has enabled the House to focus on people-centred legislation and effective oversight in support of the state’s development agenda.
Sarkindaji stated that under his leadership, the 10th Assembly has remained committed to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting transparency, advancing legislation aimed at improving the lives of citizens and supporting the developmental vision of the present administration.
“As we prepare to receive this honour on July 9, we are inspired to do even more in advancing good governance, effective representation and sustainable development for our constituencies and the people of Niger State,” he said.
The Speaker also extended appreciation to the people of his constituency and residents of Niger State for their continued support, trust and prayers.
He assured them that the Assembly would remain focused on enacting laws and policies that promote development, accountability and improved welfare for citizens.
“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous and more united Niger State,” Sarkindaji stated.
