Nennadi Usman Grieves Over Chief Audu Ogbeh, Calls Him a Principled Statesman

Former Minister of Finance, Senator Nennadi Usman, has described the death of Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh as an “irreplaceable loss” to Nigeria, mourning him as a principled statesman who devoted his life to the service of the nation.
Ogbeh, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex-Minister of Agriculture, reportedly passed away at the age of 78 in Abuja.
In an emotional statement, Usman said:
“Chief Ogbeh was more than a public servant — he was a principled, patriotic Nigerian whose departure leaves an unfillable void in our political landscape. At a time when Nigeria is in dire need of leaders of integrity and courage, losing such a rare statesman is a deep and painful blow.”
She recalled their personal relationship, describing him as both “a father figure and a mentor” who never failed to offer wise counsel and steadfast guidance.
“His humility, clarity of thought, and unwavering commitment to the truth were qualities that defined him throughout his life,” Usman added.
She celebrated Ogbeh’s decades-long career — from his early days as a teacher, through his rise in politics to the highest levels of leadership, to his contributions as a farmer and public servant.
“Chief Ogbeh embodied the values of service, excellence, and resilience,” she said, extending condolences on behalf of the Labour Party to the Ogbeh family, friends, associates, and all Nigerians whose lives he touched.
