Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has marked her second anniversary in office with a sweeping rollout of infrastructure projects across the five local government areas of her constituency, underscoring her commitment to inclusive development and grassroots empowerment.

The week-long celebration, which began on Thursday, opened with the commissioning of a 50,000-litre solar-powered water reticulation system in Ganaja and solar-powered smart streetlights in Adogo, both located in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

Continuing the momentum on Friday, the Senator inaugurated a 20,000-litre capacity borehole in Okene, alongside another 50,000-litre solar-powered water reticulation project in Okaito, Okehi Local Government Area, and Adavi Local Government Area.

The project tour also saw the launch of smart streetlights in key communities such as Obangede, Eika, and Kuroko in Okehi, with additional installations spread across Ajaokuta Village, Nagazi, Oro Layout, Ebogogo, Adogo, Ebiya, Ogaminana, Geregu, Elete, Ajaokuta Township, Iruvusechi, and Eika Ohizenyi, among others.

In total, 40 solar-powered water projects have been successfully executed across Kogi Central—each providing access to clean water and improving living standards for thousands of residents who have long faced acute water shortages.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s second anniversary celebration goes beyond water and energy infrastructure. She is also set to commission a series of transformative constituency projects, including smart markets, a primary healthcare centre, school blocks, and other community development initiatives designed to spur local growth and foster social inclusion.

In addition to physical infrastructure, the Senator has unveiled plans for a wide-ranging empowerment programme that will see the distribution of electric vehicles, vocational tools, and essential business equipment to artisans, youth, and women across Kogi Central. The initiative aims to promote sustainable livelihoods, encourage small-scale entrepreneurship, and stimulate the local economy.

Observers and community leaders have lauded the Senator’s record of service, describing her as a model of purposeful representation whose projects have brought tangible change to the people of Kogi Central.

As the celebrations continue, residents across the district say the anniversary marks not just two years in office for Senator Natasha—but two years of impact, innovation, and renewed hope for a more developed and self-reliant Kogi Central.
