Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has secured full accreditation for 18 programs and approval for eight new ones from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), solidifying its position as a leader in technical and vocational education.

This development, announced by the Rector, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, signifies a new era for the institution, which now boasts a 100 percent success rate in accreditation exercises.
This achievement reflected the Polytechnic’s dedication to raising academic standards and meeting the demands of modern industries.
The newly accredited programs, which include HND Civil Engineering Technology, HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option), and ND Mass Communication, will commence in the 2024/2025 academic session.
These additions have broaden the scope of technical and vocational education available at the Polytechnic, offering students more opportunities to acquire in-demand skills.
Prof. Usman noted that these approvals mark a continuation of the institution’s 2022 success, where 30 programs received full accreditation. “This milestone demonstrates our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and our readiness to meet global standards in technical education,” he stated.

Under Prof. Usman’s administration, the Polytechnic has introduced 19 new programs, representing over 33 percent of its total offerings. This bold expansion aligns with the Rector’s vision to make Kogi Poly a center of innovation and excellence.

The Rector credited the accreditation success to the dedication of the institution’s management team, academic board, and staff. From cleaners to top administrators, every member played a role in creating an environment that impressed the NBTE inspection team during their visit in December 2024.

“This achievement is the result of hard work and unity. We owe our success to everyone who contributed to making this possible,” Prof. Ogbo Usman remarked.
With 57 programs now fully accredited and plans to implement the newly approved courses, Kogi State Polytechnic is positioned to lead the charge in producing skilled professionals ready to tackle Nigeria’s development challenges.

As the Polytechnic continues to grow, stakeholders are optimistic that its consistent drive for excellence will set a benchmark for other institutions in the country.
