Kogi CP urges residents to disregard rumours of bandits invasion

THE Nigeria Police, Kogi State Police Command has assured residents that rumors of bandit invasion of Zango, Crusher, and Felele communities in Lokoja is “fake news” meant to create unnecessary tension in the State.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi disclosed this in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) William Ovye Aya.

Kankarofi said there’s no truth to the rumors of possible bandit invasion of the communities.

He warned those peddling rumours of bandit invasion to desist from spreading false alarms, causing unnecessary fears and panic among the good people of the state.

“Anyone found guilty of spreading false alarms will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

The CP reaffirmed the deployment of tactical teams, including the Police Mobile Force and counter-terrorism units, to strategic locations to ensure safety.

He urged residents of those areas and indeed, entire Kogi state to go about their daily activities as usual and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Kankarofi noted that security remains a shared responsibility, as he admonished everyone to work together to keep the state safe. (Ends)
