Kogi Central Senator Mourns Crash Victims, Urges Safety Measures

The senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic Felele auto crash that claimed the lives of 10 students in Lokoja.

She therefore extended her heartfelt condolences to their families, the Federal University Lokoja, and the entire Kogi community.

In an emotional statement issued on Tuesday by her chief Press Secretary, Isreal Orogbonlo, the Kogi Central Senator acknowledged the profound grief of the bereaved families, offering words of comfort and solidarity.
“My heart goes out to you in this darkest of moments. No words can adequately capture the pain and grief that comes with losing a loved one, and I can only imagine the devastation that you must be feeling right now.
‘May the memories of your loved ones be a blessing to you, and may their young lives not be lost in vain.
“I share in your pain and sorrow, and I pray that God will grant you all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” she said.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also called on the federal government and relevant authorities to take immediate action in addressing the recurring road accidents along the Felele axis, which has become a notorious hotspot for fatal crashes, especially involving students.

She emphasized the need for urgent expansion of the road, regulation of truck traffic, and improved road safety measures to prevent further tragedies.

“Educational institutions should be safe havens for students. No student deserves to lose their life in such a tragic manner,” she stressed.

The senator pledged to continue advocating for federal intervention and to provide necessary support to prevent future accidents, ensuring that Lokoja’s roads become safer for all.
