Kogi Assembly commends 5 prominent Ankpa sons for outstanding community devt

KOGI State House of Assembly has commended five prominent sons of Ankpa Local Government Area of the state for their exceptional contributions to community development, security, and social welfare.

The House commendation came via a resolution reached by members following the adoption of a motion of Urgent Public Importance moved by Hon. Akus Lawal (APC-Ankpa 1) at plenary in Lokoja.

Presenting the motion, Hon. Akus said the five illustrious personalities had continued to make remarkable and selfless contributions to strengthen the communities, enhance security, foster development and uplift the lives and wellbeing of the people.

Hon. Akus Lawal said that the interventions were purely out of their selflessness and love for their people, second of expectations of political reward.

They include Hon. Justice Baba Yusuf Husseini, Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, who has mobilized resources to support security agencies in Ankpa;

Engr. Dr Ismaila Amodu Mohammed, Project Coordinator of Julius Berger Plc, who has funded critical infrastructure projects, including fencing of burial grounds and construction of access roads;

Alhaji Shehu Yakubu-Concern, a successful entrepreneur who has constructed a vital access road in the Low-Cost area of Ankpa among other interventions;

Alhaji Kashim Akor, former Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, who provided solar-powered streetlights and installed transformers in various communities and

Mallam Idris Yakubu, former Group Managing Director of NAHCO Plc, who secured over 150 employments for Kogi indigenes and supported healthcare, education, and youth empowerment.

The Assembly praised the individuals for their selfless efforts, describing them as “shining examples of true leadership and community service.”

Hon. Ochidi called for greater collaboration among well-meaning individuals to foster more grassroots development across the zone.

Supporting the motion, Hon. Abbas Linco Ocheje (APC-Ankpa II) and Hon. Idrees Aliyu Maikudi (APC-Kogi/Koton-Karfe), commended the five illustrious sons of Ankpa for their immense contributions to the development of the area and prayed Allah to guide and protect them.

Ruling on the motion Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, noted that their contributions embodied the essence of community development and would serve as inspiration for others to follow their example.

Speaker Yusuf directed that official letters of commendation be issued to each of the distinguished individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions. (Ends)
