Julius Adamu Receives PDP Certificate of Return, Vows to Deepen Grassroots Development in Bwari

Hon. Julius Adamu, former Speaker of the Bwari Legislative Arm, has officially received the Certificate of Return as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidate for the 2026 Bwari Area Council election, promising inclusive leadership, party unity, and continuity of development strides.

Adamu emerged from a keenly contested primary held on June 23 at Bwari Town Hall, where he secured 19 of 30 accredited votes, defeating five other aspirants in what party leaders described as a free, fair, and transparent process.

The certificate was presented to him on Tuesday at the PDP FCT Secretariat, Wuse Zone 4, by the party’s National Vice Chairman (North Central), Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammed, who reaffirmed the party’s confidence in Adamu’s capacity to deliver victory and consolidate governance gains in the council.

“FCT remains a stronghold for the PDP, and with leaders like Julius Adamu, we are confident of victory. What matters now is bringing everyone together as one family for the task ahead,” Abdulrahman said.

Adamu was accompanied by a strong delegation of political stakeholders, including the incumbent Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Hon. (Dr) John Gabaya; Speaker of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Dogara Ahmed Yerima; members of the 9th Assembly; National and State party officials; and grassroots mobilisers.

In his remarks, Adamu expressed deep appreciation for the support received across the party, especially from women and youth who played active roles in his emergence.

“Our party has shown that internal democracy is alive. I thank everyone who made this possible. The women who carried this campaign on their backs, the youth who walked with me through every ward—I’m grateful,” he said.

He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration and lead a government anchored on accountability, equity, and shared prosperity.

“We must move forward as one. The primaries are over—now is the time to work as a united front. I will lead with openness, I will listen, and together, we will make Bwari a model of good governance.”

Adamu emphasized that the Certificate of Return symbolised collective trust and charged party members to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the February 21, 2026 election.
