Gunmen Strike Kogi School During NECO Examination, Kidnap Principal, Students
Panic erupted at a secondary school in Kogi State after heavily armed gunmen invaded the premises while students were writing the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) examination, abducting the school principal and an undisclosed number of candidates.
The attackers reportedly stormed the school in broad daylight, disrupting the examination and sending students, teachers and other staff scrambling for safety.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants overpowered those on the premises before forcing the principal and several students into the surrounding bush, leaving the school in confusion and fear.

Security agencies have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, with efforts underway to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice. Officials have yet to disclose the exact number of students taken, saying investigations are still in progress.
The incident has once again spotlighted the growing insecurity facing schools in parts of the country, raising fresh concerns about the safety of students and educators, particularly during national examinations.
