The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old self-styled prophet and overseer of Divine Grace Church, Nicholas Nusa, over the alleged abduction of five girls and the alleged sexual abuse of a 15-year-old among them.
Nusa, who operates his church along Imoga Road, Ibillo, in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, was arrested following information received by the police.
According to the command, preliminary investigations indicated that the five girls were allegedly abducted from Ibillo and Imoga communities at different times between September 2025 and April 2026.
The police alleged that the suspect took the girls to his residence, where one of them, aged 15, became pregnant.
The girl has reportedly undergone a Caesarean section and is currently receiving medical care at a hospital under the care of the Brave Heart Organisation.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspect allegedly confessed to the offences during interrogation.
She said the investigation was ongoing, while efforts were being made to reunite the rescued children with their respective families.
The police did not disclose further details about how the girls were allegedly abducted or the circumstances surrounding their recovery.
The arrest has triggered further investigation into the alleged activities of the cleric and the circumstances under which the five children were allegedly taken from their communities.
The suspect remains an accused person, and the allegations against him have not been tested in court.
