Christmas: Yar’Adua Urges Nigerians to Embrace Unity, Compassion
Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, representing Katsina Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, has called on Nigerians to use the Christmas season to strengthen peace, love and national unity.
In a Christmas goodwill message issued on December 25, 2025, the senator described the yuletide as more than a festive occasion, saying it offers a moment for reflection, reconciliation and shared responsibility. He urged Nigerians to rise above divisions of religion, ethnicity and region, and to show compassion to the vulnerable and less privileged in society.
Yar’Adua said the true spirit of Christmas lies in empathy and solidarity, encouraging individuals and communities to support one another, especially families who may be unable to celebrate. He noted that simple acts of kindness and cooperation are essential to rebuilding trust, strengthening social bonds and healing the nation.
The lawmaker paid glowing tribute to members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies who remain on duty during the festive period, commending their dedication, resilience and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property.
He also called on citizens to actively support security agencies by remaining vigilant, sharing timely and credible information and avoiding the spread of misinformation that could undermine public safety. According to him, sustained collaboration between the public and security operatives is key to maintaining peace during and beyond the holidays.
Reaffirming his commitment to national cohesion, the senator pledged continued legislative support for peace-building initiatives and improved welfare for security personnel.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful Christmas and expressed confidence that the New Year 2026 would usher in renewed hope, unity and national progress.
