In a renewed push to enhance grassroots security and promote social justice, the Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa State, in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has trained 40 volunteer corps members to support community policing and intelligence gathering.
Speaking at the passing-out parade held in Gantsa, the council headquarters, Chairman of Buji LGA, Arch. Najibullah Falalu Tukur, said the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to security, social justice, and youth development.
“Today, I had the honour of receiving the State Commandant of the NSCDC and top officers of the command for the passing-out ceremony of 40 trained volunteers — a programme fully sponsored by my administration,” Tukur said.
He described the training as a landmark step in strengthening local security architecture and deepening cooperation between the council and security agencies.
The NSCDC State Commandant commended the council for its proactive leadership and presented an Award of Excellence to Arch. Tukur in recognition of his administration’s outstanding support for community security and youth empowerment.
In his remarks, the chairman dedicated the award to the people of Buji, pledging to sustain programmes that promote peace, safety, and development. He also praised Governor Umar Namadi for creating an enabling environment for grassroots governance and security reforms.
Tukur urged the newly trained volunteers to uphold discipline, integrity, and patriotism in the discharge of their duties.
“You must see this as a service to humanity. Be courageous, uphold integrity, and ensure that Buji remains peaceful and secure,” he advised.
The initiative marks a key milestone in Buji’s efforts to build a safer and more inclusive local community through civic partnership and youth engagement.
