Ayodele Questions Tinubu’s Fuel Discount as 2027 Election Looms

Primate Elijah Ayodele has questioned the timing and effectiveness of President Bola Tinubu’s proposed 30-day fuel price discount, arguing that temporary relief cannot resolve the economic pressures confronting Nigerians.
The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church alleged that the initiative was insufficient to address the rising cost of living, warning that the administration faced mounting challenges as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, on Friday, Ayodele criticised the government’s handling of insecurity, kidnapping and ransom payments, arguing that these problems required more decisive action.

“Tinubu’s government is on the verge of failure; the petroleum discount is nothing,” the cleric said.

He alleged that the All Progressives Congress was anxious about retaining power in 2027 and predicted that the President could make unexpected political moves ahead of the election.
Ayodele also questioned the administration’s economic direction, describing the possibility of renewed fuel subsidies as a sign of uncertainty over how to cushion the impact of high petrol prices.
The cleric warned that another Tinubu presidency could bring greater economic hardship, a prediction he attributed to what he described as divine revelation.
His comments come amid public debate over whether the proposed 30-day discount would offer meaningful relief to households and businesses facing high transport and living costs.
However, Ayodele’s claims about the administration’s political prospects and the consequences of a second term remain his own predictions, rather than established outcomes.
