At Sallah, Governor Okpebholo Calls for Unity, Sacrifice, Compassion
His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, has extended his warmest greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Edo State, across Nigeria, and around the world, as they celebrate the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha.
In his message, Governor Okpebholo underscored the deep spiritual significance of Eid al-Adha, describing it as a festival rooted in sacrifice, obedience, and unwavering devotion to Almighty Allah.
His chief press Secretary, Fred Itua in a statement, quoted him to have indicated,
“This holy occasion reminds us of the enduring faith of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), whose willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice remains a guiding light for all believers,” the Governor said. “It is a time to reflect on the values of compassion, generosity, and submission to God’s will—principles that are more vital now than ever.”
Governor Okpebholo called on Muslims and all residents of Edo State to strengthen the bonds of unity, peace, and mutual respect, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
“At a time when our state and nation are in need of healing and harmony, Eid al-Adha presents an opportunity to renew our collective commitment to peaceful coexistence and brotherhood,” he noted. “Let us use this season to reach across divides, extend love to our neighbors, and uplift the less privileged.”
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to religious inclusivity and freedom, the Governor assured the Muslim community that his government will continue to uphold the rights and dignity of all faiths.
“We are building an Edo State where every citizen—regardless of belief—is respected, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive,” he said. “Our vision is anchored on peace, equity, and shared prosperity.”
Governor Okpebholo also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly, observe public safety protocols, and make deliberate efforts to support the vulnerable in society during this festive period.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Edo State, I wish the Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyous, and spiritually fulfilling Eid al-Adha. May this season bring renewed hope, blessings, and progress to us all.”
