Activist commends Gov. Ododo on 2nd Year Anniversary, says Not yet Uhuru

A Human Rights Activist, Comr Idris Abdul Miliki has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on his developmental strides in his two years in office but cautioned that it is not yet Uhuru in view of prevailing gaps.
Miliki who is also the Executive Director of Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), said though the administration was elected for a four-year term, it is imperative to evaluate its performance in the last two years.
In a statement he personally signed, the rights activist said Governor Ododo has achieved a milestone in the payment of salaries and brought relative stability to the state since his inauguration on January 27, 2024.
According to him, regular payment of workers’ salaries has eased economic pressure on civil servants and reduced the usual industrial tension, a sharp contrast to previous administrations.
He scored the administration high on handling of activities of thugs and rights abuse as the Rule of Law is being encouraged and there is general peace.
Miliki commended the current onslaught against banditry, kidnapping and general insecurity by various security Agencies activities.
“The latest successful outing is encouraging, heartwarming and there is need for it to be sustained as security is the bedrock of development in any society.
“The reports on collective strategies among different security agencies that have brought about these recorded successes.
“We commend the efforts of the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Nigerian Army and other security agencies as well as the coordinating efforts of the State Security Adviser.
He said that the had excelled “In the areas such as, Transportation Sector, Housing, Water, Tourism, Human Development and Training, Media, Health, Basic Education, Constant Citizens Engagements, Infrastructural Development, and Environmental related issues.
“We call on the Governor to initiate Town Hall Meetings among citizens as promised during his electioneering campaigns across the state before his election in 2024.
“While we congratulate him on his second-year anniversary as the executive governor of Kogi State, we call on him to change some of his aids and reduce his cabinet member.
“He should also inject new people that have requisite professional skill in the areas of appointments to generate new ideas in this last face of this current mandate”, he said. (Ends)
