Blessing Fubara Rejects Godfather Label, Says Ambition Driven by Vision
The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State, Blessing Fubara, has dismissed claims that his political ambition is backed by any influential political figure, declaring that his only source of support is God.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Fubara said suggestions that he is operating under the influence of a political godfather are misplaced, insisting that his aspiration to govern Rivers State is rooted in a clear vision for the state’s future.
The NDC candidate also sought to draw a distinction between his political ideology and that of his brother, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, noting that they hold different perspectives on governance and politics.
According to him, the ongoing political turbulence in Rivers State has generated varying interpretations and narratives, but his focus remains on offering an alternative leadership direction for the state.
Fubara stressed that his campaign is centred on addressing the challenges confronting Rivers people and promoting a governance model anchored on accountability, competence, and public service rather than political patronage.
He maintained that his candidacy is not an extension of any individual’s political agenda but a personal commitment to advancing the interests of the state and restoring confidence in its leadership.
The governorship hopeful added that Rivers State is at a critical juncture and requires purposeful leadership capable of navigating its political complexities while prioritising the welfare of its citizens.
