Eid-el-Kabir: Kogi Speaker, PAAU VC call for prayers, unity, economic recovery

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has called on Muslims to use the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for lasting peace, national unity and economic stability in Nigeria.
In a Sallah message issued on Wednesday in Lokoja through his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, Yusuf congratulated Muslims in Kogi State and across the country on the festival.
He described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred occasion that reflects the values of sacrifice, obedience, faith, tolerance and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
The Speaker urged citizens to reflect on the spiritual lessons of the celebration and offer prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in Kogi State and Nigeria.
He also called for sustained support for efforts aimed at improving governance, security and economic wellbeing, urging Nigerians to back the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in their development agenda.
Yusuf further appealed for unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence among citizens, especially toward the less privileged during the festive period, noting that Eid-el-Kabir presents an opportunity to reinforce national solidarity.
He prayed for Allah’s acceptance of sacrifices and supplications, and for enduring peace and prosperity in the country.
In a related message, the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, also felicitated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
Prof. Usman urged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and selfless service, stressing the need for sincerity, compassion and peaceful coexistence as essential values for national development.
