Northern Senators Forum Grieves Over Maiduguri Mosque Attack

The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has reacted with deep sadness to the bomb explosion that occurred during evening prayers at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, leaving several worshippers dead and others injured.
In a statement signed by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the Forum expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the injured, and the entire Maiduguri community, describing the attack as a cruel assault on innocent worshippers. The senators said they stand firmly with the Government and people of Borno State at this trying time.
The Forum mourned those who lost their lives and prayed for the quick and complete recovery of those receiving treatment. It also acknowledged ongoing investigations by security agencies, which suggest the explosion may have been caused by a suicide device detonated during prayers.
Commending the swift response of the police and other security agencies, the NSF urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security operatives to protect places of worship and other public spaces.
Reaffirming its resolve to support lasting peace and security, the Northern Senators Forum pledged continued collaboration with federal and state authorities to strengthen intelligence sharing, enhance preventive measures, and ensure sustained support for victims and survivors of violent attacks across Northern communities.
The statement concluded with prayers for the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, comfort the bereaved families, and restore peace and stability to all affected areas.
