Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan grieves over Okey Ezea demise, Recalls His Gentle Legacy

The Senate has lost one of its calmest and most compassionate voices. Senator Okey Ezea of Enugu North Senatorial District, remembered not only for his political acumen but for his quiet humanity, has passed away, leaving a void in both the National Assembly and his community.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) described Ezea as “a good man—wise, gentle, and deeply supportive,” recalling the personal guidance and spiritual encouragement he offered her during difficult moments in the Senate. “His prayers kept me going through my darkest times. I will miss him dearly in chambers,” she said.
Born on August 11, 1963, Ezea built a distinguished career as a lawyer and businessman before entering politics. Elected in 2023 on the Labour Party platform, he quickly became known for his calm demeanor, thoughtful interventions, and principled leadership. Colleagues across party lines admired his ability to listen before speaking and to seek solutions rather than score political points.
But his impact went beyond legislative chambers. In Enugu North, Ezea quietly nurtured young leaders, supported local initiatives, and championed community development. Even in the heat of Nigeria’s political battles, he remained a bridge-builder, earning respect for his humility, sincerity, and unwavering commitment to the people he served.
“Senator Ezea never sought the spotlight, yet his influence touched countless lives,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said. “His loss is deeply felt not only in Enugu North but across the Senate, where his measured voice and steady presence inspired so many.”
For the people of Enugu North, his legacy is etched in the lives he changed, the leaders he mentored, and the communities he uplifted. “Enugu North, Kogi Central honors your Senator and mourns with you,” she added.
Senator Okey Ezea leaves behind a powerful example of integrity, compassion, and public service—a reminder that leadership is as much about kindness and humility as it is about policy.
