NBTI Commends Dr. Udeh’s Appointment to Lead Innovation Ministry

The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) has congratulated Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN) on his appointment as Nigeria’s new Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, describing it as a timely catalyst for advancing the nation’s knowledge-driven economy.
Speaking in Abuja, NBTI’s Director General, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, hailed the appointment as “a new dawn for Nigeria’s innovation and knowledge economy.”
“Dr. Udeh brings to the table a rare blend of legal brilliance, policy insight, and an unwavering passion for innovation. We look forward to working closely with him to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s technology-driven entrepreneurship,” Dr. Raji stated.
He reaffirmed NBTI’s readiness to collaborate with the Ministry in promoting inclusive innovation and fast-tracking the commercialization of indigenous technologies. According to him, NBTI’s ongoing initiatives — particularly those designed to empower young innovators and women entrepreneurs — align with the Ministry’s renewed focus on science-led economic transformation.
Dr. Udeh’s confirmation by the Senate on November 6, 2025, following the resignation of Mr. Uche Nnaji, has been widely applauded across the innovation community.

Upon assuming office, Dr. Udeh pledged to harness the power of research, technology, and innovation to tackle Nigeria’s most pressing challenges — from unemployment and insecurity to industrial underdevelopment. His vision, anchored on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, seeks to place innovation at the heart of national growth.

He emphasized that building a thriving innovation ecosystem will require deeper collaboration among government, academia, industry, and research institutions. His goal, he noted, is to position Nigeria as Africa’s leading hub of creativity and technology — one that transforms ideas into sustainable businesses and exports innovation to the world.
With his appointment, stakeholders across the science, technology, and startup sectors are optimistic about renewed energy, progressive policies, and practical support for entrepreneurs, inventors, and technology incubators nationwide.
