Badaru Represents Tinubu at Qadiriyya’s 75th Maukibi Celebration in Kano

Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, on Saturday stood in for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 75th Maukibi, the annual Maulud in honour of Sheikh Abdulkadir Jailani, founder of the Qadiriyya Sufi Order. The historic gathering took place in Kano, attracting thousands of worshippers and dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.

This year’s celebration carried added weight as it also marked three decades of Sheikh Karibullah Nasiru Kabara’s leadership of the Qadiriyya sect across Africa.

Delivering President Tinubu’s message, Badaru praised the Qadiriyya community for its enduring role in promoting peace, tolerance, and moral discipline. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to working with religious leaders to strengthen unity and stability in the country.

The ceremony featured Qur’anic recitations, prayers for Nigeria’s progress, and tributes to the spiritual legacy of Sheikh Jailani. It also highlighted Kano’s place as a spiritual hub and a beacon of Islamic learning in West Africa.
